The Voice’s live competition picked back up this week with the return of six finalists. Last week fans voted off Adam Levin’s Sarah Simmons and Judith Hill, leaving one member each for the Maroon 5 frontman, Usher and Shakira. Blake Shelton sits on top with 3 members still in the game.
On Monday all 6 performers gave it their best, taking part in 2 performances each during the night. Danielle Bradbery of Team Blake gave a strong performance of “Shake the Sugar Tree” by Pam Tillis. Bradbery was joined in the top ranks by Team Usher’s Michelle Chamuel who took on “Somewhere Only We Know.” Chamuel is clearly not going anywhere for awhile! Fans of The Voice love her.
Adding to the night of solid performances, Sasha Allen of Team Shakira impressed the crowd and the coaches as well with her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way.” Adam called it Allen’s best performance. Team Blake’s Holly Tucker was selected to sing “When God Fearin’ Women Get the Blues.” There was plenty of attitude and spunk, but Tucker couldn’t compare to the top ladies of this season.
The only male act left, The Swon Brothers sang Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” for one of their two performances. The duo seems to be holding on with a decent fan base. As for Amber Carrington, the Team Adam member went blue grass, adding a twist to Skid Row’s “I Remember You.” Carrington’s effort wasn’t bad. The singer managed to rise to the occasion and make the best of her talents when it came to taking on a rock song.
By Tuesday only one singer was to be eliminated with The Voice results show pushed to an 8pm timeslot due to the premiere of “So You Think You Can Dance.” The 6 remaining singers were brought to 5 after an intense night of waiting and performances. After announcing the saves of Carrington, Bradbery, Allen and Chamuel, the last few minutes of the show came down to two acts, Holly Tucker or The Swon Brothers. With seconds to go, Host Carson Daly revealed that it was Tucker who would be going home after America’s votes were tallied. Tucker was swarmed by supporters with tears in her eyes.
As the chapter on Tucker closed, the newly formed betting odds to win The Voice Season 4 have been released already, so the action is live. On top is Bradbery, who sits at even money currently on Bovada Sportsbook. But Bradbery is being chased by Chamuel at 11/10. The two front-runners are neck-and-neck at this point. The other three remaining singing acts all appear to be battling for third place and avoiding the next elimination. Allen is set at 7/1, with Carrington going off at 20/1. Rounding out the back are the Swon brothers at 50/1. LatestBettingOdds.com will have next week’s odds available as soon as they come out as well!
The Voice will resume next week with the competition set to continue between the final five; one team member each for Shakira, Adam and Usher. Team Blake is still the reigning champ of season four…until next week.
