To say the Washington Nationals are on a hot streak might be an understatement. They currently are in first in the NL East and have won four straight, including 2 in their weekend series at home against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday and Saturday.
They equaled their season high in runs in Saturday’s 7-1 win over the Phillies as they are in the middle of the franchise’s longest winning streak.
On Sunday Night, they will look to continue that streak as they wrap up the weekend series with Philadelphia and try for the sweep in a game that can be seen live on ESPN at 8:00.
Cole Hamels will get the start for the Phillies. He is 3-1 on the year with a 2.78 ERA. He is 3-0 since losing his first start and during that streak Hamels has struck out 27 as opposed to walking just five. In addition, his ERA is 2.33 since the lone loss.
Jordan Zimmermann will get the honors for the Nationals as he looks to extend his team’s winning ways. Zimmermann is 1-2 with an impressive 1.89 ERA. He has really had no offensive help this season, but the Nationals seem to have gotten this area back on track.
