Pittsburgh Penguins Enter 2012 NHL Playoff Betting Odds As Overall Favorite

The time of year that all hockey fans have been waiting on is finally upon us.  The 2012 NHL Playoff schedule has now been released and it all starts on Wednesday April 11.

Sixteen teams will square off for the coveted Stanley Cup with the Eastern Conference winner taking on the Western Conference winner.  Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their Odds To Win The 2012 Stanley Cup and tagged the Pittsburgh Penguins as the overall betting favorite.

But before they are crowned on the ice, there is still a lot of hockey action to take place before the actual winner holds up the Stanley Cup.

The Eastern Conference Quarter-Final Schedule has the NY Rangers (51-24-7) with the overall best record taking on the 8th seeded Ottawa Senators (41-31-10) beginning on Thursday night at 7:00 pm ET.  The Rangers have their odds to win it all set at 11/1 while the Senators are at 25/1.

The Boston Bruins (49-29-4) will face the Washington Capitals (42-32-8) in their section of the bracket with play starting on Thursday at 7:30 pm ET.  Boston will enter the playoffs with 9/1 odds to win it all while the Capitals are at 28/1.

The 3rd seeded Florida Panthers (38-26-18) will take on the New Jersey Devils (48-28-6) with their series beginning  on Friday.  The Panthers have their odds to win the Stanley Cup set at 30/1 while the Devils are at 22/1.

The final series of the Eastern Conference pits the Pittsburgh Penguins (51-25-6) against the Philadelphia Flyers (47-26-9) starting Wednesday.  As states before, the Penguins enter the playoffs as the betting favorite with odds set at 7/2 while the Flyers are at 14/1.

The Western Conference Quarter-Finals features the Vancouver Canucks (51-22-9) who possessed the conference’s best record against the Los Angeles Kings (40-27-15) who begin play on Wednesday.  Vancouver enters the NHL Playoffs with their odds to win it all set at 11/2 and the Kings are at 20/1.

The No. 2 seed St. Louis Blues (49-22-11) will face the San Jose Sharks (43-29-10) with their series beginning on Thursday.  The Blues have their odds set at 15/2 while the Sharks have their odds set at 18/1.

The Phoenix Coyotes (42-27-13) begin play at home and will face the Chicago Blackhawks (45-26-11).  The Coyotes enter the playoffs with odds set at 35/1 to win the Stanley Cup and the Blackhawks are at 16/1.

The final series in the Western Conference Playoffs features the Detroit Red Wings (48-28-6) going on the road to face the Nashville Predators (48-26-8).  The Red Wings have their odds set at 12/1 while the Predators are at 12/1 as well.
