It didn’t take long for the 2014 NFL season to come up and bite each of the 32 teams with at least one loss.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ loss to the New England Patriots was the last undefeated team in the league, in a season that has been difficult to figure out to this point. There are no real dominant teams, and for that matter there are teams that many predicted to be contenders but have failed to live up to that expectation thus far.
The good news for all teams is that it is still very early in the season, with the fifth or sixth game upcoming depending on the bye weeks.
Looking ahead at the Week 6 schedule, there are some solid matchups. Indianapolis and Houston got things underway tonight on Thursday in an AFC South showdown.
From there, things get back underway on Sunday. Among the notable matchups include the Green Bay Packers visiting the Miami Dolphins. The Packers are 3.5-point favorites over the Dolphins according to Bovada Sportsbook.
In the AFC North, the surprise Cleveland Browns will host the Pittsburgh Steelers where the browns are actually 1.5-point favorites. It’s been a while since Cleveland was favored over Pittsburgh, but the Steelers are trending down and the Browns appear to be on the upward swing.
Later in afternoon the Atlanta Falcons host the Chicago Bears. Both teams sit at 2-3 on the season and likely can’t afford the loss. Atlanta is 2-0 at home this season and plays very well in the Georgia Dome. The Falcons are field-goal favorites.
The biggest game of the week might be in Seattle between the Seahawks and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams come in at 4-1. Seattle was expected to be in this position, while the same cannot be said for Dallas. The Cowboys are tied atop the NFC East with Philadelphia, and could potentially make a huge statement if they go into the 12th man and come out with the victory. The betting line says that is highly unlikely, with the Seahawks favored by nine points.
Philadelphia and the New York Giants square off on Sunday Night Football. The Eagles has been quite an interesting team to watch this season. The only loss on the season came on the road to the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles are favored by a field-goal to knock off the Giants, who have won three-straight.
It’s a battle in the NFC West on Monday Night Football, with the San Francisco 49ers facing the St. Louis Rams. San Francisco will try to keep pace with Seattle in the division.
