Only three races remain in the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup and things are really starting to get interesting.
Jimmie Johnson took over the lead from Brad Keselowski last weekend at Martinsville but is just 2 points ahead. Clint Bowyer sits in third while Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin round out the top five in the standings.
It is safe to say that a lot is riding on Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway as JJ will look to continue his recent success and keep hold of that top position.
Johnson put himself in good position to do just that as he won the pole for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 for the second race in a row. Greg Biffle, who sits in 9th place, will start second and he will be followed by Kyle Busch, Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. to round out the top 5. Keselowski will start 8th.
History has shown the Johnson has had much success at Texas over the years. In 18 starts, he has finished in the top 10 thirteen times, including a runner-up finish back in April where he finished second to Biffle.
Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their AAA Texas 500 Betting Odds and have tagged Johnson as the betting favorite with odds set at 3/1. Keselowski enters the race with 5/1 odds while Biffle is at 15/2 and Hamlin is at 31/4 to round out the top four betting favorites.
The AAA Texas is set for Sunday at 3:00 pm ET and can be seen live on ESPN.
