Monday Night Football San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals Betting Odds

Filed under: NFL Betting Odds |

For the Arizona Cardinals, the season started out just like they had hoped and not like everyone had expected.  A huge buzz was brewing among the Cardinal faithful as a great beginning might be leading to great things for them in the 2012 NFL season.

Arizona jumped out to a 4-0 start with wins over Seattle, New England, Philadelphia and Miami for their best start in almost 40 years.

However, things have begun to spiral negatively as they have dropped three straight and now sit at 4-3, tied for second in the NFC West with the Seahawks.

Turning this losing trend around in Week 8 is what Arizona will attempt to do as they will host NFC West leader San Francisco on Monday Night Football.

The 49ers (5-2) rebounded on Thursday night after falling to New York a week earlier.  Their stout defense and strong rushing attack has been the staple that has been the key for San Francisco all season.  Both areas shined in their 13-6 win over the Seahawks and they will look to keep the momentum going against Arizona.

The Cardinals must find a way to get something going offensively against the 49ers.  They rank near the bottom of the league in both passing and running and will be faced with a huge test on Monday night against the 49ers defense.

If there is one plus for Arizona it has been their passing defense which ranks 4th in the NFL.  However, the 49ers rank 29th in passing so this area might not be a factor.

What must improve Monday is the Cardinals rush defense which is allowing 120.9 yards per game.  They will be challenged with stopping Frank Gore who lit up Seattle (5th in the league against the rush) for 131 yards rushing.

Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their Monday Night Football Betting Odds for the San Francisco vs Arizona matchup and have tagged the 49ers as 7-point favorites,  The OVER/UNDER in points is set at 38.

The game is set for Monday night at 8:30 pm ET and can be seen live on ESPN.
