The top-two qualifying positions for the 2013 Daytona 500 have already been set, but now it is time to get the rest of the starting grid locked in. That will begin on Thursday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway, with two duels ready to take place.
not having to worry about their position in the Duels are Danica Patrick and Jeff Gordon. These two drivers were the No.1 and No.2 qualifiers respectively during the timed trials that took place on Sunday afternoon.
Patrick became the first woman in history to win the pole at Daytona, with a qualifying speed of 196.434 mph.
Betting odds for the Budweiser Duels have been formed for both of the races and are available at Bovada Sportsbook.
In the second of the two Budweiser Duels on Thursday afternoon at Daytona, the defending Daytona 500 champion will be in the group. That would be Matt Kenseth, who got the biggest win of his career to kick off 2012, and would love nothing more than to begin 2013 in the exact same fashion.
Bovada has installed Kenseth as the favorite to win his qualifying Duel on Thursday, going off at 17/4, which is just over a 4 to 1 payout on the betting line.
Kenseth sits in front of Kyle Busch at 5/1, and Gordon at 6/1. Clearly oddsmakers expect Gordon to be a real contender despite the fact that his qualifying position has already been set for Sunday.
Rounding out the top-five favorites to win th second Budweiser qualifying race is Clint Bowyer at 13/2, and Kasey Kahne at 15/2.
From there, you can certainly see a bigger disparity in the way that the odds jump from the first qualifying race as well. Bovada has a distinct separation between the top-five favorites in the Budweiser Duel 2 on Thursday afternoon. Ryan Newman is set in the sixth slot, though is back at 12/1 on the payout. And from there it continues to jump, with Jamie McMurray at 14/1.
The second of the two Budweiser Duels is set to begin right around 5pm ET, which is when these betting odds will be taken down so you want to be sure to get in on it. The Speed Network will have live coverage.
