The 2014 Oscar nominees have been revealed with the ceremony slated to air on March 2 at 7e/4p. Ellen DeGeneres will return to host this year’s ceremony that will recognize the best in film. With the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes an indication of how this year’s Academy Awards will go down, it looks to be a tight race with familiar names dominating the Best Picture category. The Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Nebraska, Dallas Buyer’s Club, Philomena, American Hustle and Her have all been nominated.
According to the predictions, the competition is between 12 years a Slave and American Hustle. Both films have garnered strong praise among critics and movie goers and have also landed nods for Best Director in Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) and David O. Russell (American Hustle). Rounding out the rest of the list for Best Director is Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity, Alexander Payne of Nebraska and Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street.
Betting odds for the 2014 Oscars have been released, with some of the top categories of the night available. Of course, the Best Picture nominees are leading the way. And when speaking of the Best Picture nominees, ’12 Years A Slave’ is the film to beat. At 2/5, the movie is a runaway favorite over others like ‘American Hustle’ and ‘Gravity’.
The categories for Best Actor and Actress receive plenty of attention from Bovada as well. After winning the Golden Globe, Matthew McConaughey is now the leading Oscars favorite for his performance in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’. At -300 (1 to 3), McConaughey is ahead of Chiwetel Ejiofor for ’12 Years A Slave’.
As for the Best Actress category, Cate Blanchett is a huge favorite to take home the award for ‘Blue Jasmine’. At -1000 ($10 wins $1), she is well in front of the nearest competition in Amy Adams and Sandra Bullock.

Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) is also in the running alongside Judi Dench (Philomena), Sandra Bullock (Gravity) and Meryl Streep (August: Osage County). Many think Bullock will claim the prestigious award for her screen time opposite George Clooney.
The Best supporting actor nominees are Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Bradley Cooper (American Hustle), Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street), Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) and Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave). Leto is a shoe in for the award after portraying Rayon, an AIDS positive transgender woman. Up for Best supporting actress is Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), June Squibb (Nebraska), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) and Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine).
