The third week of the NFL preseason is the week in which the projected starters play the majority of the game. In essence, it’s the closest thing to a regular season matchup during the exhibition season. Those players still looking to make the roster will get their chance to play, but also have a fourth preseason game next week in which it will be the last opportunity before the roster is cut to the final 53-man team.
Looking at the schedule upcoming that starts on Thursday there are some good games to look forward too.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles kick things off that Thursday night, with the Eagles set as 3.5-point favorites on Week 3 NFL preseason betting lines at Bovada Sportsbook. Pittsburgh might be a little disappointed they won’t be seeing Johnny Manziel in the opening week of the regular season, but they get a shot at Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy for most of the night.
On Friday there will be five games taking place, including a matchup between the New York Giants and the New York Jets. This is a traditional preseason matchup, and will be a fun game for the fans in the city to attend. Bovada thinks that the game is too close to call, setting the matchup as a pick’em.
While most preseason betting lines don’t go over 3-4 points, there are actually two games on Friday with a betting line of seven points. The Packers are favored over the Raiders and the Seahawks are favored over the Bears by that margin.
The majority of games will kick off on Saturday. Some of the matchups include the Dolphins facing the Cowboys, the Falcons taking on the Titans, the Colts playing the Saints, and the Rams playing the Browns.
Cleveland named its starter on Tuesday, with Johnny Manziel backing up Brian Hoyer, at least for now. We aren’t exactly sure how short the leash on Hoyer will be. don’t be surprise to see Manziel play in a lot of this game as well.
There is no Monday night game, but on Sunday there are two matchups. The Chargers face the 49ers and the Bengals take on the Cardinals as the NBC prime time game.
