2013 Sweet 16 Betting Odds To Win NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

Filed under: NCAA Basketball Betting Odds |

Florida Gulf CoastIt started with 68 teams but now the 2013 NCAA Tournament is now down to just sixteen teams… the Sweet 16. With just four games to go to win a national championship, the regional semis and regional finals are the last two steps to make it to the Final Four in Atlanta.

Teams like Indiana, Ohio State, Louisville and Kansas were expected to make it here, but some squads that are here started with “house money” and are now more dangerous than ever since they’ve won a few games in the postseason.

Who had #15 Florida Gulf Coast, #13 La Salle or even #9 Wichita State to make it to the Sweet 16 in their brackets? If you said yes to all of them, you’re lying to yourself. One or two of them… maybe. But all three, not very likely considering that a fifteenth-seeded team is still alive; 2013 is the first time one has ever made it to the second week of the postseason.

It’s just incredible to think about the possibility of any of those longshots to win this tournament, and even after two wins (three wins for La Salle) it is still not very likely to happen. Still, it’s fun to contemplate and think about all the cash that could be won if one of those teams were to shock the world. You know it’s going to happen sooner or later. Since 2006, we’ve seen teams like George Mason, VCU and Butler (twice) make it to the Final Four. Of those teams, Butler actually played in the National Championship Game in back-to-back seasons but came up just short.

While it is highly likely that this tournament will be decided by one of the remaining teams with a #4 seed or better, it never hurts to put a few dollars down on Cinderella if for no other reason than just to say, ‘I bet on Cinderella and won’.

Below, we’ve got all the odds to win the NCAA Tournament all the way up to this moment. We’ve organized them so that you can see where all the remaining teams started and whether their payouts are going up or they are going down. All the odds mentioned in this story were found at Bovada and will be available for wagering leading up to the start of the Sweet 16 games on Thursday night.
