One of the great sports spectacles across the world gets underway this Sunday, May 26th. The running of the 2013 Indianapolis 500 is an event that attracts viewers all across the world, as the Indy Car series gets geared up for its flagship event.
It was Dario Franchitti who captured the 2012 Indy 500, which was his third-career victory in the race. Franchitti had also taken the checkered flag at the 2007 and the 2010 Indy 500. The 2012 edition saw a historic number of lead changes occur, with 34. It was the most lead changes that have taken place in the race ever.
So what can we expect in 2013?
Oddsmakers have formed betting odds to win the 2013 Indianapolis 500, and while Franchitti is considered a top-favorite, he is not at the head of the list. That would go to Marco Andretti, who is set at 13/2 to win his first-career Indy 500. Andretti is followed closely on the betting line though by Scott Dixon (7/1), Helio Castroneves (8/1), and the defending champion in Franchitti (17/2). Dixon won the 2008 Indy 500, while Castroneves won in 2001, 2002, and 2009.
Ed Carpenter captured the pole position for the 2013 Indy 500, and will start at the head of the pack. Carpenter is a top-five favorite, going off at 10/1 to get the win.
The 2013 Indianapolis 500 will get going at 12pm ET on Sunday, with coverage picked up by ABC. Complete lines to win are provided by LatestBettingOdds.com below, courtesy of Bovada Sportsbook.
