Talladega Superspeedway is the site of this week’s Sprint Cup race, as driver’s will take to the track and compete in the Aaron’s 499. Brad Keselowski comes in as the defending champion, and has actually won two of the last four races.
Kevin Harvick captured the Sprint Cup race in Richmond last week in a final sprint. He also has some past success at the Aaron’s 499, winning in 2010. Harvick moved all the way up from seventh to first over the course of the final two laps. The victory was Harvick’s first of the 2013 Sprint Cup season, and the 20th of his career.
Oddsmakers are sticking with the defending champion this week though, installing Keselowski as the race favorite alongside Matt Kenseth on 2013 Aaron’s 499 betting lines found at Bovada Sportsbook. Kenseth has not yet won the Aaron’s 499, but oddsmakers obviously feel that he has a good shot to do it this week. Both drivers are going off at 11 to 1 on the payout.
Brad Keselowski – 11/1 (+1100)
Matt Kenseth – 11/1 (+1100)
Clint Bowyer – 12/1 (+1200)
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – 12/1 (+1200)
Jeff Gordon – 12/1 (+1200)
Kesenth led for 140 laps during the race last week in Richmond, which was the most of any driver. However, he stumbled late over the course of the final laps and in the sprint, falling to a seventh place finish.
Of course, Kenseth continues to deal with the repercussions of being docked Sprint Cup points and his crew chief suspended after his car failed a secondary inspection following his win two weeks ago. It was a nice bounce back following the distractions.
The continued distraction appears to hold no weight in the eyes of Bovada though, as Kenseth is right there at the top with Keselowski.
Clint Bowyer follows behind at 12 to 1, with Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and four other drivers all slated with equal odds. This includes Harvick, the most recent winner on the NASCAR circuit.
The betting line is spread across much more evenly than in normal weeks. The payouts aren’t very different, but the fact that eight drivers are all set with 12 to 1 betting odds means that oddsmakers are quite sure who to favor, and believe that it’s virtually wide open.
This could also be a testament to the nature of the type of racing that takes place at Talladega. The drivers tend to stay tightly packed until over the course of the last few laps when a mad dash to the finish line takes place. Because of the Superspeedway style of racing, it happens more so than at other tracks.
The 2013 Aaron’s 499 will get going at 1pm ET, with coverage on FOX. Get the full field odds to win from LatestBettingOdds.com, below.
