The betting odds to win the 2013 Daytona 500 have undergone a few changes over the course of the last week or so.
At first, we had the Daytona 500 futures which had been up for quite a while. But those quickly changed when qualifying began as Danica Patrick and Jeff Gordon took the top-two spots in the timed trials to the front row. From there, we saw a new set odds.
Going into yesterday though for the running of the two Budweiser Duels for the rest of qualifying, we assumed that the betting lines would change one again, and that proved to be true.
With Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch each winning the Duels at Daytona on Thursday afternoon, they have jumped up to the top of the list of favorites to win the 2013 Daytona 500.
It had been Dale Earnhardt Jr. who reigned atop the betting odds to win the Great american Race. But now Earnhardt has taken a tumble down the line as Busch and Harvick, along with defending Daytona 500 champion Matt Kenseth have climbed the ladder at the very top.
It’s Harvick who is slightly separated from the rest of the field, going off at 9/1 to win his second-career Daytona 500.
Busch and Kenseth have both been set with equal 10/1 odds to win, as has Tony Stewart.
Earnhardt remains a top-five favorite, and frankly didn’t change much with his betting odds. However it was that fact that Harvick, Busch and company saw their odds jump up.
You have to travel a bit further down the list before you see the pole sitter. Patrick is set at 18/1 and while she may start out at the
front of the pack, oddsmakers do not think that she will be sitting there for very long.
Gordon will be in the front on the outside, and it near the top favorites, installed at 12/1 to win on Sunday.
Harvick and Busch will be right behind Patrick and Gordon when the race gets underway at 1pm ET on Sunday, with live coverage on FOX. It certainly should provide some entertainment in the beginning, especially with many fans wondering how long Patrick will be able to hold off the other drivers before losing the lead.
