The UFC takes center stage this weekend at Phillips Arena in Atlanta for one of the biggest fights of the year.
In the Light Heavyweight Championship bout, reigning belt holder Jon Jones will match up with Rashad Evans.
Both fighters have just one career loss on their respective resumes’, so we can expect a lot of fireworks between these two athletes at the pinnacle of their sport.
Jones’ first and only loss came to Matt Hamill back in December of 2009. Since then, it’s been six-straight victories, with his last two being a successful defense of his Light Heavyweight championship belt.
Evans has won four-straight fights, though his only loss back at UFC 98 in May of 2009 to Lyoto Machida lost him the Light Heavyweight belt. And since then, it has been about getting back up to the top contender for another shot at regaining the title he once held.
So who is getting the edge from oddsmakers?
The Latest UFC 145 Main Event betting odds between Jones and Evans have set Jones as an assertive -450 favorite to win the fight and retain his title.
Analysts have pointed to the height and reach differential which is decidedly in the advantage of Jones as the primary reason that he is the favorite. That, and the fact that he is just plain good.
But you can bet that Evans will be well prepared for the reach of Jones, getting ample time to train and adapt to Jones’ style.
UFC 145 from Atlanta gets underway at 11pm ET on Pay-Per-View.
