Notre Dame vs Navy Betting Odds And Preview

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will open their 2012 college football season in the motherland, traveling to Dublin, Ireland to take on the Navy Midshipman. It’s definitely the most unique venue for the first weekend in of the year.

But for the Fighting Irish, they have some issues right out of the gate. That is highlighted by the suspension of quarterback Tommy Rees and starting running back Cierre Wood. Rees will be out for the first game of the season, while Wood will be suspended for the first two games of the season.

As such, we will probably see a quarterback by committee between Andrew Hendrix, Everett Golson and Gunner Kiel under center against Navy.

That certainly has not deterred oddsmakers from installing Notre Dame as assertive favorites in the game over the Midshipman.

Notre Dame vs Navy betting odds available at Bovada Sportsbook have set the Fighting Irish as 16-point favorites over the Midshipman to get out to a 1-0 start. Notre Dame will need every win that they can get this season, as their schedule looks brutal on paper.

For this one though, the Irish will need to win by at least 17 points to cover the betting line. Navy and cover with a loss by 15 points or less. If you are a bettor who lies to get some points when taking the underdog, this could be your match up.

We know that Notre Dame will be missing several key pieces in their line up, both on offense and defense with suspensions.

Navy still runs the ball very well, ranking fourth in the nation in 2011.

Look for the Midshipman defense to try and be aggressive and get after the inexperienced quarterbacks for the Irish.

Notre Dame and Navy can be seen on CBS at 9am ET on Saturday. Get these betting odds and the rest below as available on Bovada.
