The New York Jets and New York Giants won’t have to travel very far to play in their second preseason game of the 2012 NFL season. The two will clash in their home stadium on Saturday night in prime time.
The Giants are currently the rulers of New York, having won the Super Bowl last season. But you can bet that the Jets will be trying their best to win a championship of their own.
The Giants lost a close one to the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first preseason match up last week, dropping 32-31 in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Eli Manning only saw the field for a brief time, completing 4 of 8 passes for 60 yards. Manning will probably play for a few more series against the Jets, but we don’t expect him to be out there for very long.
This of course will be the first time that New York fans will get to see Tim Tebow in a Jets uniform on the field. Tebow did get some playing time in the first preseason game against Cincinnati, completing 4 of 8 passes for 27 yards and an interception. Mark Sanchez played the first couple of series, going 4 for 6 for 21 yards.
But what Jets fans really want to see is how Tebow will be utilized in the offense as if it were the regular season. Tebow likely won’t be in the back field throwing passes, but will be in more of a wildcat situation down inside the redzone. The jury is still out on Tebow and his role with the Jets.
As for the match up with the Giants on Saturday night, oddsmakers have jumped on this one and installed the Jets as 1.5-point favorites on NFL Preseason betting odds available at Bovada Sportsbook.
To cover this line, the Jets will need to win by at least two points, with a win by one point or obviously a straight up loss giving the win against the spread to the Giants.
This game will be broadcast nationally on the NFL Network, with kickoff scheduled for 8pm ET on Saturday. Check out the betting odds below, as well as the rest of the slate for Week 2 of the Preseason.
