After three races in the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup, Brad Keselowski has begun to show what he is made of. Getting off to a good start in NASCAR’s postseason is a huge plus and that is exactly what he has done.
The Chase began in Chicago and Keselowski captured race number one, finished 6th at New Hampshire and won again last weekend at Dover. His success so far has landed him the top spot in the standings heading into race #4.
That fourth race in the Chase is set for Sunday in the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 at Talladega Speedway.
Keselowski holds just a five point lead over Jimmie Johnson who’s best finish in the three Chase races so far has been second in Chicago. Sitting in third is Denny Hamlin who has the only other Chase win and he is 16 points back.
Chase drivers will occupy four of the top five starting spots after qualifying on Saturday. Kasey Kahne gets top-spot honors as he won the pole for Sunday’s race. Ryan Newman qualified second and he will be followed by Clint Bowyer (two-time defending race winner), Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle to round out the top five.
Despite winning the pole, Kahne will not head into the race favored to win. Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 Betting Odds and have tagged Dale Earnhardt Jr., who qualified 12th, as the betting favorite with odds set at 17/2. Kevin Harvick will enter the race with odds set at 9/1.
Keselowski, Bowyer, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth all have their odds set at 10/1.
Coverage for the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 begins at 2:00 pm ET and can be seen live on ESPN.
