The Sprint Cup Series in NASCAR heads to Watkins Glen International on Sunday afternoon for the Finger Lakes 355.
Jeff Gordon is coming off a much needed win at Pocono last weekend as he is inching his way up toward reaching the Chase. He currently is in 13th place in the points standings as the “regular season” in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is coming to an end.
Only 5 races left and along with Gordon, Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman are others who are looking to work their way into the Chase field. And both put themselves in a good position in qualifying Saturday to make that move.
Juan Pablo Montoya grabbed the pole for Sunday’s race, just edging past Busch who qualified second. Newman will start from the 6th spot. Rounding out the top five in qualifying are Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski and Marcos Ambrose.
Despite winning the pole, Montoya will not head into the race as the betting favorite. That honor goes to Ambrose who has been installed with 15/4 odds in Bovada Sportsbook’s Odds To Win The Finger Lakes 355. However, Montoya does follow Ambrose with 11/2 odds.
Tony Stewart is right there with Montoya at 11/2 as well. Stewart qualified 7th but his history at the Glen should bode him well as he is a 5-time winner there.

The Finger Lakes 355 is set for Sunday at 1:00 pm ET and can be seen live on ESPN.
