The 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup is well underway heading into the third week of NASCAR’s postseason. Jimmie Johnson sits atop the standings but it is really too early to start to pronounce him as champion with seven races left.
Brad Keselowski is currently in second and is followed by Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne to round out the top 5.
On Sunday, another opportunity arises for all the Chase drivers to make a move as Dover International Speedway will play host to the AAA 400.
Hamlin is entering Sunday’s race coming off a win last Sunday at New Hampshire and has put himself in good position this weekend as he won the pole on Saturday in qualifying.
However, Hamlin has not had the best of luck at Dover where his average finish in 13 career starts is just 20th. In the Sprint Cup Series lone race at Dover this year, Johnson came away with the victory so he has already proven to race well there.
Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their AAA 400 Betting Odds and have tagged Johnson as the betting favorite with odds set at 3/1. This means for every $1.00 wagered on him, should he win the payout is $3.00.
Kyle Busch enters the race with 5/1 odds and he is followed by Hamlin (7/1), Kahne (9/1) and Jeff Gordon (10/1) to round out the top 5 betting favorites.
The AAA 400 can be seen live on ESPN with coverage beginning at 2:00 pm ET.
