The LSU Tigers have slipped in the polls each of the last two weeks despite winning. But upon further review, those wins were not very convincing, which included a narrow 12-10 victory over a poor Auburn team, and a 38-22 win over Towson.
Make no mistake though, the Tigers still sit No.4 in the country when they go on the road Saturday to the Swamp to take on the No.10 Florida Gators.
The Gators, who frankly had little hype coming into the season, have found a balanced offense to go along with what we knew would be a very solid defense. And now all of a sudden, this matchup is a top-10 battle with not just SEC implications on the line, but the potential for national title aspirations.
The winner of this game will certainly be vaulted into the short list of national title talk halfway through the season.
All of the talk coming into the season stemmed from the power of the SEC West, led by Alabama, LSU and Arkansas. But with Arkansas looking absolutely terrible, it’s the East division which has risen to the occasion.
There is just one division in all of college football that has three teams ranked in the top-10.
The SEC East.
Oddsmakers are siding with the West in this game though, despite the Tigers going on the road. LSU vs Florida Betting Odds available at Bovada sportsbook have set the Tigers as field goal favorites over the the Gators. To cover this three-point line, LSU will need to win by at least four points. On the flip side though, Florida can lose the game by two points or less and bettors would still get the cover with a wager on the Gators.
Florida is 3-1 against the spread this season, while LSU sits at just 2-3. The Gators also have the added benefit of getting last week off, and an extra week to prepare for the Tigers coming to town.
LSU has covered the spread each of the last two seasons, including their last trip to the Swamp in 2010.
The Gators and Tigers kick off at 3:30pm ET on Saturday on CBS. Check out the betting odds for this game below, as well as the rest of the Week 6 college football slate.
