There hasn’t been another team that has been hyped up over the past few seasons, only to result in disappointment quite like the Florida State Seminoles. Through three games of the 2012 college football season, Florida State looks like they might live up to the expectations.
But this Saturday night will be the real test, with the No.10 Clemson Tigers coming to town in a top-10 matchup.
The Seminoles are fresh off of a 52-0 stomping of Wake Forest this past weekend, their second-straight shutout. In Fact, Florida State has outscored their opponents 176-3 through three games, albeit two of tough matchups came against FCS schools in Murray State and woeful Savannah State. But this Noles defense looks like it might be the best in the country.
On the other side of the field for Clemson, they got an easy win 41-7 over Furman in their last outing. The defending ACC champions know that this game against Florida State could dictate the rest of their season. A win keeps both Atlantic Division and BCS National championship hopes alive. It helps that receiver Sammy Watkins is back in the lineup, and even got in a warm up game with Furman after serving his two-game suspension.
Last season in Clemson, the Tigers came away with a 35-30 win, though Florida State was playing without quarterback E.J Manuel. Manuel comes into this one healthy. In fact, he hasn’t seen the fourth quarter yet through three games.
Oddsmakers are siding with the Noles at home in this one, and it’s by a rather high margin. Florida State vs Clemson Betting Odds available at Bovada Sportsbook have set the Seminoles as two-touchdown favorites over the Tigers. The 4-point line is giving Clemson quite a few points, but playing on the road and with the Seminoles appearing to be playing very well, they are a favorite of oddsmakers.
But both teams are in the top-10. If you are a bettor who likes to get some points, this could be the match up for you.
Clemson and Florida State kick off at 8pm ET on Saturday night, with coverage picked up nationally on ABC.
