It sure didn’t look like Peyton Manning had been gone for a whole NFL season when he came out in Week 1 last Sunday night. It might have been a new uniform, but by the middle of the game, it was the same old Peyton, orchestrating an offense that we have come to be very familiar with during his career. And the result was a big win.
Things don’t get any easier in Week 2 for Denver though, as they go on the road to the Georgia Dome to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons are coming off of an impressive offensive performance on the road last Sunday. Atlanta hung 41 points on Kansas City, as they looked very explosive. Of course, it helps to have two of the best wide receivers in the league in Roddy White and Julio Jones. You can bet that quarterback Matt Ryan is loving the fact that they moved up in the draft last season to bring in Jones. They connect twice for touchdowns in Week 1.
This will be the first time that Manning and Ryan have gone up against each other.
So how do the odds stack up?
Paying at home, Atlanta is getting the edge. Falcons vs Broncos betting odds available at Bovada Sportsbook have set the home team as field-goal favorites over Manning and the Broncos. And this line really should come as a surprise. Ryan has been fantastic at home in the Georgia Dome throughout his career.
But Manning hasn’t been too bad in a dome himself, playing his entire career in Indianapolis. So it will be a familiar setting for him.
Atlanta has been great covering the spread on Monday Night though with the national audience. The Falcons are 0-5 ATS in their last five MNF games.
This one will probably come down to which quarterback can make that big throw. The edge would tend to go to Ryan, being at home and having better weapons on the outside. But it’s hard to bet against Manning, who looked in midseason form last week in the opener.
This will definitely be a fun one to watch.
Atlanta and Denver kick off at 8:30pm ET, with coverage picked up by ESPN. Check out these betting odds and the rest of the slate in Week 2 below.
