With the start of the 2012 NFL season just around the corner, the New York Jets have a lot of issues to address on the offensive side of the ball.
Nine points in two preseason games is not very impressive. And add to the fact that none of theses points are the result of a touchdown is even more alarming.
But on Sunday night, the Jets will attempt to get things on the right track as they face the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 NFL preseason action.
A lot has been made of how the Jets are going to operate offensively with the addition of Tim Tebow. Up to now, neither Tebow or starter Mark Sanchez have done much of anything. Although, they haven’t shown any signs of how they are actually going to use Tebow in their wildcat offense and this probably will continue Sunday.
This will be the final “dress rehearsal” for the starters as in the final preseason game they will most likely sit out. However, they have been without arguably their most prominent playmaker in wide receiver Santonio Holmes this preseason but he should see some action on Sunday night.
As for the Panthers, they have shown much improvement from last year, especially on offense. Now in his second year in the NFL, quarterback Cam Newton has shown signs of brilliance during preseason. He and the starters are expected to see about three quarters of action on Sunday.
Bovada Sportsbook has fielded a wagering opportunities for preseason action and have installed the Jets as the betting favorite in their NFL Preseason Betting Odds. New York has yet to win a preseason game this year but oddsmakers feel that drought will end and have them favored by 3 over the Panthers.
The Jets vs Panthers matchup can be seen live Sunday night on NBC at 8:00 pm ET.
