There really wasn’t a team that looked better in Week 1 more than the Baltimore Ravens. one could make the case for the San Francisco 49ers, but even their offensive performance doesn’t stack up to what the Ravens did.
But we will get to see the follow up act in Week 2, when Baltimore goes on the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, the favorites to win the NFC East. Though they sure didn’t look like it in their season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
It was a tale of two much different games when looking at Baltimore and Philadelphia.
The Ravens flat out dominated the Cincinnati Bengals in the second half, winning 44-13 after the game was within four points early in the third quarter. And while we expected good performances from the defense, quarterback Joe Flacco looked like an early candidate for Most Valuable Player. He looked calm, cool, and collected in the pocket, making all the right decisions and accurate throws short and deep down the field. Baltimore looked very scary, and if Flacco keeps this up, we might be looking at your Super Bowl champions.
For Philadelphia, four interceptions by Michael Vick still wasn’t enough for the Browns to find a way to get a win. The Eagles scrambled late to a 17-16 victory, getting out with a win and moving forward. There aren’t too many positives that can be taken from that game, with the exception that it was a win.
Oddsmakers still clearly have a lot of faith in Philadelphia though, as they get the edge at home in Week 2.
Eagles vs Ravens Week 2 Betting Odds available at Bovada Sportsbook have set Philadelphia as a field-goal favorite over Baltimore at home.
For the Eagles to cover the line, they will need to win by at least four points, with a win by two points or less going the way of the Ravens.
Vick will certainly need to avoid bad decision making, against a defense that is far superior to that of the Browns. Otherwise, this could be the easiest cover all day for the underdog.
Baltimore and Philadelphia kick off at 1pm ET on Sunday, with coverage on FOX. Find NFL Week 2 Odds below for the rest of the schedule.
