The 2013 College World Baseball Tournament began back on May 31st, with 64 teams vying for a chance at the national title. Now, the road to Omaha has been cemented with eight teams making the trip for the College World Series.
The Arizona Wildcats won the 2012 College World Series, but they did not even get a chance at repeating their title, failing to make it into the 64-team regional tournament. As a result, we will have a brand new college baseball champion for 2013. Now the only question remaining, is who that team will be to break through?
Opening round play for the 2013 College World Series will begin this weekend, as all eight teams will be in action for their first game. From there, the winner’s bracket and loser’s bracket will be formed. It’s a double-elimination format, so teams losing in the first game will try to avoid elimination the rest of the way.
2013 College World Series Update
At the start of the college baseball playoff, there are eight national seeds proclaimed. These are the top-eight teams in the country that would host all the way through to Omaha if they kept winning. As we into the Super Regionals, seven of the eight national seeds were alive. These teams in order were North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Oregon State, LSU, Cal State Fullerton, Virginia, Florida State, and Oregon. Of these eight teams, only Oregon failed to make it through to the Super Regionals.
As it stands now, only North Carolina, Oregon State, and LSU are the remaining national seeds that reached the College World Series in Omaha. It’s shouldn’t be a surprise that these three teams are the favorites to win on 2013 College World Series betting odds available at Bovada Sportsbook. It’s Oregon State and LSU leading the way, going off at 5/2 on the payout. North Carolina follows closely behind at 11/4. From here, the odds jump up quite a bit, as it’s clear the top-three teams we mentioned are the big favorites. The next-closest teams on the odds are back at 9/1, including Louisville, N.C. State, and UCLA. Behind them, Indiana and Mississippit State are going off at 12/1 to round things out.
