The 2012 NBA Playoffs are set to get underway this weekend, with 16 teams alive for a chance to win the championship.
Let’s take a look at how the betting odds to win the NBA title stack up before things get going.
To no one’s surprise, it’s the Miami Heat who are at the top of the list to win the championship on the lines available at Bovada Sportsbook, as they have been there throughout the entire course of the regular season.
In their second year together, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are expected to to win championship, a year removed from a loss in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Heat have been set with odds at 21/10 to win the championship, which is just over 2/1 on the amount wagered.
But Miami, despite being the favorite to win the title, are not even the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference. That would be the Chicago Bulls, who tied for the best record in all of basketball with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Bulls are the top seed in the East, and going off at 7/2 to win the NBA Championship at Bovada behind only the Heat.
With the top of the odds dominated by the East, it’s the Oklahoma City Thunder who are favored in the West, and the third overall favorites on the NBA championship odds. Like the Heat, the Thunder are the No.2 seed in the West, but rank ahead of the Spurs going off at 15/4 to win it all.
Then come the Spurs, who despite the aging process, somehow continue to win year-in and year-out.
Rounding out the top-five favorites entering the playoffs are the Los Angeles Lakers. And while the Lakers definitely have some things to iron out, they do have Kobe Bryant, and that is always a nice asset to have. Bryant appears to be healthy, despite sitting out the final game of the season, and if he can produce in the post-season, you can bet the Lakers will have something to say about who wins the championship.
Below, we have listed the full field betting odds for all of the 16 playoff teams as seen on Bovada, so be sure to check them out and make a wager!
