Boxing is definitely one of the most popular sports when it comes to the Olympics. And at the 2012 London Olympics, there are going to be a number of men’s and women’s boxing events going on throughout the course of the two weeks.
Things actually start right away for the preliminary boxing events in the various weight classes. With the opening ceremony for the games on July 27, the competition gets going the very next day on the 28 with the Men’s Bantamweight and Middleweight events.
Actually there will be several preliminary rounds in the men’s events even before the woman get going. It won’t be until August 5 that we see the different women’s events get underway.

Each of the different weight classes are broken down with the best odds to win the gold medal. There are 10 different divisions in the men’s boxing events, compared to three in the women’s.
For the men, the medal fights will take place on Saturday August 11, and Sunday August 12. The women’s medal bouts will take place on that Thursday before on August 9.
